Use: To reduce high triglycerides levels.

Most people could use more fish in their diet (particularly fatty fish such as mackerel, herring or salmon).

Supplementation with omega-3 from fish oil or algae can also help. Omega-3 fatty acids can improve endothelial health; they also reduce triglycerides, keep blood from clotting too quickly, and have anti-inflammatory properties.

When selecting a fish oil supplement, it's important to choose carefully since many fish oil supplements in health food stores are not worth buying. Because fish oils are very unsaturated, they tend to become oxidized or rancid very easily. Oxidized fish oil is not good for you; it can generate free radicals and consume your body's stores of vitamin E. If you have diabetes, rancid fish oil could increase your blood sugar. Determine if your fish oil supplements is oxidized by biting through the capsule and tasting it. Oxidized fish oil has an unpleasant or fishy odor and taste. By contrast, high-quality oil has no taste or odor.

Our Omega-3 supplement like all our products are Pharmaceutical Grade, Independent Lab Tested and Therapeutically effective.

Doses: It is recommended 1 to 2 grams of fish oil daily with people with high triglycerides. A combination of fish oil and garlic supplementation can be used since it has been shown to be more helpful in lowering cholesterol levels than either one alone. Sometimes patients will also need niacin or the drug gemfibrozil to further reduce triglycerides.

Side Effects: Stomach upset, gas

Who should not use: Since omega-3's have a slight tendency to reduce blood clot formation, people with bleeding tendencies (like hemophiliacs) should not use these supplements. Individuals who are already taking aspirin or blood thinners should proceed with caution and be attentive to any sign that their blood is too thin (bleeding gums, easy bruising).
